Girlfriend Kari Wiki
Current Status
Currently in a TESTING (alpha) setting. Changes to the server, infrastructure, and pages will be made without hesitation by the admins.
The below lists the current changelog to the wiki:
- 2/12/2015: MediaWiki has been successfully installed.
- 2/13/2015: VisualEditor has also been successfully installed.
- 2/13/2015: Main Page now redirects to "Girlfriend Kari Wiki." This is the new main page.
Future updates:
- Working on extension issues, image issues, and server efficiency issues.
- Consider adding extensions for further image reliability support (or as feasible due to constraints in memory)
- Policy pages are to be added, which summarizes the goals/policies/rules of this wiki.
- Pages on editing, image uploading rules, support, constraints, server issues, bugs, changelog, etc.
- An actual MAIN PAGE that isn't just filled with technical jargon that describes the current status of the site/server
- Technical jargon like this will be moved to a page like "status" or "updates" or something of the like.
- A new banner, logo, and favicon.
The wiki will be kept as open as possible to allow changes from all users. There will be some general rules on editing and image uploading to preserve the quality of the wiki and the server health as a whole. These will be listed in a different page in due time. Please note that any attempts to destroy data or server capabilities/functions will result in being blacklisted from the site.
Also, more admins will be necessary in the due future. Active contributors on the previous wikia are highly recommended to talk with me (Erina) if interested.
A few hardware notes:
- The current hardware that the server is running on is more than enough to support MediaWiki and its core functions.
- The current hardware that the server is running on meets the requirements to support VisualEditor and Parsoid.
- What this means to you: Avoid using the VisualEditor to make edits if you know how to use markup text. Also, don't play around with images too much (as in constantly resizing them, spamming them in various articles, etc.). This causes unnecessary server load.
ETA before the server becomes stable: 2/21/2015
Here's to everything working out!
